The Traitors Filming Locations
01/05/2026
Scotland’s dramatic Highlands have become the star of The Traitors, captivating viewers with their mystery, tension, and cinematic beauty. From imposing castles to secluded lochs, the show’s filming locations are just as compelling as the gameplay itself. Here’s how you can step into the world of The Traitors and experience these iconic landscapes for yourself.
Ardross Castle
Every UK series of The Traitors has been filmed at Ardross Castle, located around 25-30 miles north of Inverness.
This 19th-century Scottish Baronial estate is the dramatic centrepiece of the show. With its turrets, battlements, and grounds, Ardross provides the perfect backdrop for intense roundtables, traitor meetings, and some of the series’ most memorable moments.
Despite its central role, Ardross Castle remains a private estate and is not open to the public. Interestingly, contestants don’t stay overnight here, they are transported to off-site accommodation to maintain the secrecy of the game.
Even so, the surrounding countryside offers plenty of opportunity to soak up the same atmospheric Highland scenery.
Loch Glass
Just a short drive from Ardross Castle lies Loch Glass – one of the show’s most visually striking outdoor locations.
Framed by woodland and rolling hills, the loch’s still, mirror-like waters create an eerie calm. Many of the series’ outdoor missions take place here, making it a standout location for fans.
For visitors, Loch Glass offers a peaceful yet dramatic escape. Early mornings are particularly special, when mist drifts across the water and the landscape feels almost otherworldly.
Boat of Garten Railway Station
Another recognisable filming spot is Boat of Garten railway station, a charming heritage station set within the Cairngorms National Park.
Known for its vintage appearance and traditional Highland character, the station has been used as a backdrop as the contestants arrive at the competition. It forms part of the historic Strathspey Railway, where visitors can still enjoy a scenic steam train journey through the Highlands.
Glenfinnan Viaduct
One of the most iconic Scottish landmarks featured in the series is the Glenfinnan Viaduct, a sweeping railway bridge set against dramatic Highland scenery.
Overlooking Loch Shiel, the viaduct is often used in cinematic transition shots to highlight the scale and beauty of the surrounding landscape. Built in the late 19th century, it’s also famous for its appearances in the Harry Potter film series, where the Jacobite Steam Train crosses its arches.
Whilst Ardross Castle itself is private and not open to the public, visitors can still explore much of the surrounding Highland scenery featured throughout the series. From tranquil lochs to historic railways, these locations offer a chance to step into the atmospheric world of The Traitors and experience its dramatic setting first-hand.

Other Filming Locations in the Highlands
While Ardross Castle is the focal point, filming for The Traitors extends across the wider Highlands – particularly around Inverness, Aviemore, and the Cairngorms National Park.
Some missions are staged in remote woodland estates and open landscapes, including areas around Rothiemurchus Estate, known for its ancient forests, lochs, and wild Highland scenery.
These lesser-known locations add depth to the show’s atmosphere and offer visitors the chance to explore beyond the obvious landmarks.
