The Best Shows to Watch During Lockdown

Reading Time: 3 minutes

Here at Little’s, we have been inspired by those who continue to spread hope and optimism during what has undoubtedly been a challenging time. With this in mind, each week our team will be sharing experiences we have been enjoying or are looking forward to, whether that be a binge-worthy boxset, a must-follow Instagram account, or the best dine at home experiences.

This week, the Little’s team are sharing what they’ve enjoyed to watch over the last few months. Comedy-dramas, 80’s classics, crime thrillers, mockumentaries, biopics – name a genre, and the team have got you covered. Hopefully you’ll find something new to watch from our staff picks, whatever your mood. Find our recommendations below.

If you’re missing travel…

Sharon, from our reservations team, has been enjoying the Netflix comedy-drama series, Emily in Paris which stars Lily Collins and is about a young American woman’s exploits when she is hired by a Parisian marketing firm to bring an American perspective to the company. Sharon has been enjoying the show because it is ‘funny and you don’t have to think too hard’. With us all getting a little tired of the inside of our own homes, what could be more appealing than escaping – albeit remotely – to Paris of an evening?

If you love a mockumentary…

Heather, our Managing Director, has been enjoying watching the American mockumentary style sitcom Modern Family with her son. The series follows the interlocking stories of three families from California and Heather says, ‘we only started it a few months ago, but probably watch an episode (…or three) a night. It’s absolutely hilarious.’ She has also been enjoying David Letterman’s Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction, the dark-comedy drama Succession, and ‘for some total escapism there is always Queer Eye’.

If you love a biopic…

Sarah Jane, our Business Development Manager, recently enjoyed the film To Olivia, which is about the life of author Roald Dahl. The film features a star-studded cast, including Keeley Hawes, Geoffrey Palmer, Hugh Bonneville, and Outlander star Sam Heughan among others. She also had ‘a bit of an 80’s movie-fest’ over the last few weeks and watched An Officer and a Gentleman and Top Gun which she had never seen before and is now pleased to be able to tick off her watch list. For TV, she’s been hooked on BBC police detective drama Line of Duty, starring Scottish actor Martin Compston.

If you need to belly laugh…

Neil, one of our chauffeurs, has been enjoying revisiting some of his favourite classic comedians, most recently Spike Milligan. The entirety of Milligan’s 1996 show, ‘An Evening with Spike Milligan’, is available on YouTube and his delightfully silly sense of humour will cheer you up if you are in need of a mood-booster.

If you like lots of options…

Kenneth, our Operations Director, has been enjoying a range of different viewing experiences. For comedy, he’s been watching Schitt’s Creek – the multi-award winning sitcom which follows the trials and tribulations of the slightly ridiculous Rose family after they lose their wealth. For a crime thriller, he’s been watching Bosch which is about a relentless homicide detective in LA. And for some ‘live’ music and ‘breath-taking performances’, he’s been enjoying working his way through the Netherlands Bach Society’s back-catalogue as they perform the works of Johann Sebastian Bach.
