Best Dine at Home Experiences this Valentine’s

Reading Time: 3 minutes

We all need reasons to celebrate – this year more than ever – and with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, February brings us the perfect excuse to do just that. While things are undoubtedly different this year, there are still so many wonderful ways to mark the occasion and celebrate the loves of your life, all from the safety and comfort of your own home.

At Little’s, we have all been blown away by the ingenuity of the service industry over the past year. The way so many businesses have adapted in spite of the ongoing challenges of tight restrictions is really a testament to the human spirit. We wanted to give a nod to some of our favourite local restaurants offering ‘Valentine’s Day at Home’ dining experiences, and we hope some of them will inspire you and your loved ones to make your Valentine’s Weekend extra special. Find our recommendations* below, with love.

(*Please note, all the offers we’ve highlighted have limited availability, so we’d recommend booking sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.)

Porter & Rye

For steak-lovers, Robert, our General Manager, recommends Porter & Rye. Their ‘Valentine’s Day Box’ features two 55 day dry-aged fillets for you to sizzle at home along with a choice of sauces and classic sides such as Bone Marrow Mac and Cheese and Beef Dripping Potatoes. They even provide the fizz with a bottle of Sacchetto Vini Prosecco or, if you fancy something a little more luxurious, you can upgrade and choose between their specially selected champagnes.

Borthwick at Home

For those looking for a feast fit for royalty, Sarah Jane, our Business Development Manager, recommends the recently launched Borthwick at Home experience, designed by the culinary team at Borthwick Castle. Their ‘Valentine’s Dining Experience’ features four courses, with vegan, vegetarian, and standard menu options so everyone is catered for. Staying at home might not be quite the same as dining inside this stunning historic venue, but with a meal prepared by the Borthwick chefs, we’re sure you’ll feel transported.

Dandelion Café

Heather, our Managing Director, recommends Dandelion Café – a friendly local business in Newlands, which she says, ‘has been at the heart of the community in the last 9 months, a real focus for the south side of Glasgow.’ Their ‘Valentine’s Weekend Menu’ features dishes such as Salmon en Croute, Chicken Katsu Curry, and Sticky Sesame Cauliflower Noodles, all made with heart from local produce. This is a perfect option for those looking for something delicious on the less pricey scale. ‘I would like to mention them for their community spirit and positivity,’ Heather says. ‘Their Instagram game is strong too so it’s worth checking out.’

Eusebi Deli

If authentic Italian cuisine is more up your street, then Kenneth, our Operations Director, recommends Eusebi Deli. ‘Not only is their take-away food consistently brilliant,’ he says, ‘but they have done so much for the community in Glasgow during the pandemic, including providing food for Glasgow’s most vulnerable and the homeless.’ Their ‘Five Course Feast’ features mouth-watering dishes such as Hand-Dived Scallops and Braised Beef Ossobuco, or for vegetarians Celeriac Timballo and Beetroot Wellington, not to mention an option to sample Valentine’s themed cocktails such as ‘The Kisser’.

Six by Nico Masterclasses

For those who enjoy cooking but need some inspiration, Melissa, our Marketing and Communications Assistant, recommends Six by Nico. The restaurant has recently launched weekly Masterclasses which come with an accompanying box of fresh ingredients. This could make for a fun (and delicious) activity to do together at home or might be a perfect gift to enjoy together in the coming weeks. The geniuses behind Six by Nico have also developed Home by Nico – a restaurant experience delivered to your doorstep featuring culinary delights from around the world. Their ‘Valentine’s Day Experience’ may have sold out weeks in advance, but it is worth keeping in mind for upcoming birthdays or anniversaries.

If you would rather impress a special someone by cooking your own 5 star meal from scratch then Harjeet, our Head of Sales, recommends trying your hand at the stunning ‘3 Course Valentine’s Day Menu’ which the masterminds behind Glennapp Castle’s award winning restaurant have created just for you. The menu features Salt Baked Beetroot Risotto with a Parmesan Crisp and Scottish Venison Steaks with Pommes Anna, Butternut Squash Puree & Port Sauce, and we’re delighted to be able to share the recipe for their Bramble Passion – the perfect Valentine’s cocktail with its crimson red colour and sweet raspberry flavour.
