Sustainability in London

A Focus on London Sustainability

In April, London created the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) initiative as part of its ongoing effort to significantly reduce pollution in the city. Most recently, the Mayor of London set out a new strategy to make London the most sustainable and eco-friendly city in the world by 2050. As part of this strategy, plans to help make London the world’s first National Park City were revealed, along with a target to cut food waste in half by 2030. Here at Little’s, we understand the importance of reducing our impact on the environment. We expect to have a fully hybrid fleet by 2022.

In addition to the ULEZ and National Park City initiatives, the Mayor plans to invest £24 million to accelerate the “greening” of London’s iconic black cabs. A study of 100,000 vehicles in the city showed that black cabs produce 50% more greenhouse gas emissions than they did five years ago, as older models become outdated and new harmful models are produced. The Mayor has therefore set a target to reach 9,000 electric taxis in London by 2020.
