The 2019 Rugby World Cup, the ninth to be held since 1987, will take place in Japan from 20 September to 2 November. This is the first time the competition has been held in Asia, commencing with Japan playing Russia. Over the six-week period, a World Champion will rise after 48 matches in 14 different venues. The final match takes place on Saturday, 2 November at the Nissan Stadium in Yokohama. With twenty of the top teams in the world competing, this tournament is one of the hardest to win – especially for European teams striving for a trophy in Asia. Will New Zealand win again, for the third time in a row? Or will a new champion rise?
Scotland – Little’s home team and 7th in the world according to the World Rugby Rankings – will be one of the first to play in the Rugby World Cup with a match against Ireland on September 22nd. As they are in Pool A, Scotland’s team will go up against Ireland, Japan, Russia, and Samoa from 22 September until 13 October.
