Edinburgh University currently holds 27th place in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, with Glasgow University placed at 80, St Andrews 143, Aberdeen 185 and Dundee 187. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, apply rigorous standards, using tough global benchmarks across all of a global research university’s key missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.

St Andrews is also currently the UK’s University of the Year for Teaching Quality and joint top of the UK National Student Survey for the 9th time in 11 years while Glasgow University is embarking on a £1bn redevelopment and expansion of their main campus. The new facilities will be world leading and will help to further confirm Glasgow as a global centre for learning, teaching and research.

Professor Andrea Nolan, principal of Edinburgh Napier University, recently stated: “Higher education is a Scottish ‘jewel’ and a national asset that competes very successfully around the world because of its quality and brings the benefit of that internationalisation home. It’s an outstanding achievement that delivers for the whole of Scotland”.

Education Conventions and Meetings

In recent years, these now global institutions, have not only nurtured academics but brought some of the world’s best and most pioneering conventions to Scotland.  With many congress’s extending over 2 -3 days and using multiple venues, these events have required a range of resources provided by local suppliers.  Little’s have been involved in providing delegate transport, spousal touring programmes and accommodating keynote speaker movements. Collaborating with many of the city’s hotels and universities, Little’s has worked closely with organisers and conference secretariat to ensure all event transport is seamless.  Moving away from traditional conference venues, Scotland’s universities have invested and shown a great deal of promise in hosting world class educational meetings and conventions.
