The annual Glasgow International Jazz Festival will return to the city in a celebration of all things funky, including jazz, blues, soul, funk, R&B and world music, between 22 – 26 June. Venues including The Old Fruitmarket and The Royal Concert Hall will play host to a plethora of names, including The Leopards, Fly and Pete Josef in what will be the festival’s 30th anniversary. Past performers at the event include Ray Charles, Jools Holland, Dionne Warwick and Eddi Reader.
To mark the Glasgow Jazz Festival’s 30th year, the “festival is celebrating some of the up-and-coming musicians within Scottish Jazz scene today by naming “30 under 30”- a collection of young Scottish Jazz musicians making waves in the global music scene, many of whom will perform at the festival.” This will give attendees a chance to experience jazz from performers tipped to go on to achieve great things whilst providing up-and-coming musicians access to a global stage.
The festival provides a wholesome itinerary extending beyond concerts, including a late night jazz club, film screenings and talks from some of the industry’s key players. It is one of the biggest events in the Scottish jazz calendar.
